  • Gentle Hygiene Protocols: Avoid standard alkaline soaps and vigorous rubbing. Utilize pH-balanced, gentle, no-rinse skin cleansers that remove irritants without stripping essential skin lipids.

  • Targeted Barrier Protection: Apply physical barriers such as dimethicone-based creams, zinc oxide ointments, or non-sting polymer film sprays. These create a hydrophobic shield that repels moisture while allowing the skin underneath to heal.

  • Exudate and Moisture Control: For chronic wounds, utilize highly absorbent primary dressings like alginates, hydrofibers, or superabsorbent polymers to lock away exudate. For incontinence, establish structured toileting schedules and select breathable containment briefs.
